On occasion it may be appropriate to undertake conservation activities rather than restoration. Restoration returns an item back to as far as possible its original condition whereas conservation preserves the artefact in its current condition halting further decay. This is a sensitive area and generally applies to an item of great rarity or antiquity. It would not generally apply to a normal household timekeeper. Of course I can accommodate customer aspiration and provide guidance as required. All work undertaken by The Clock Works is completed to the highest standards using traditional materials just as the maker intended. No work completed in my workshop in any way alters the piece or is irreversible.
